Another week, another coach told to hit the road as Roger Schmidt drove away from the Bayer 04 Leverkusen training complex for the last time...other than to return his Dienstwagen at some time within the next 30 days, we imagine. With their European dreams under threat for next season, the club's managers felt they didn't have much choice but to let the brainy football radical go. It sure was fun while it lasted. (Note: Tayfun Korkut had not yet been named interim coach when the podcast was recorded.) Matt Hermann ropes Stephan Uersfeld of ESPNFC into a nice long chat about Schmidt, and that leads to talk about Kevin Großkreutz, the Champions League, MD23 and all kinds of things German football-ish. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.
