Bundesliga MD27 – Bayern go bust in Leipzig, Löw leaves out BVB stars for friendlies

ALERT! ALERT! FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN HAVE LOST IN THE BUNDESLIGA! To mark that unusual event in Leipzig, Susie Schaaf of Miasanrot drops by to talk about the Rekordmeister’s present and future.

Matt also engages her in an extended discussion of Germany’s squad ahead of two prestige friendlies against Spain and Brazil – games in which some decisions on who makes the plane to Russia might well get made. Susie also introduces us to the latest project she’s involved in: The Short Pass. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD24 – Werder push HSV closer to edge, Schalke lay down marker at Leverkusen, Bayern and BVB held

If you like low-scoring knife-edge encounters (and let’s face it, who doesn’t), MD24 in the Bundesliga was your jam. The highest combined goal-scoring tally was three, and just one match had a margin of more than a single goal. Both big bad Bayern and second place Dortmund fell prey to the goal drought – settling for draws.

Abel(picking up a sick Matt’s slack) is in the driver’s seat and brings JT along for the ride on a pod that takes it all in: The sick man of the north (HSV), Stuttgart’s revival under Korkut (just four points from seventh…and Europe?), and the bandwagon at least one of them is keen to fire up: Nils Petersen für Deutschland! Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

TF Fantasy MD22 tips – Play Batshuayi, stick with Caiuby, kill Bailey

Wait, kill Bailey? Ok, don’t actually kill him – just consider dropping him from your team after hearing James and Flo’s game of ‘shag, marry, kill.’

The boys revisit their successes and mistakes from MD21, hand out a few tips for MD22, and chew the fat about the season ahead, including what might be in store for the Bundesliga’s European participants. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD21 – Batshuayi bags brace on BVB debut, 50+1 debate

Debuts rarely go as well as Michy Batshuayi’s. In fact, nobody had entered the Bundesliga with a brace since…Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in 2013.

Matt and Abel sing the (ok-just-this-once) ‘Batman’s praises, as well as talk over the strange doings that saw Schalke go from three points to the good to empty-handed. The boys also talk over the latest doings in the DFL’s debate over what to do with the 50+1 rule, a by-law which guarantees fans’ influence over clubs which may be re-worked in the coming years.

TF Fantasy – MD21 Breakdown

What to do with your Official Fantasy Bundesliga team this weekend? TF Fantasy has it all worked out for you on Matchday 21. James is back in control of the vehicle and Flo completes a week of double duty. Listen in for line-up news, player comparisons and informed analysis as this Bundesliga season turns old enough to drink in the USA.

TF Fantasy – MD 20 breakdown

The #TFFantasy train rolls on into MD20, where James and Flo address the burning line-up issues facing Official Fantasy Bundesliga managers as they prepare their line-ups. Even non-fantasy-playing Bundesliga fans will get plenty of insight on probable line-ups; the boys’ info is as fresh as it gets.

Along the way you’ll get a snippet of Abel’s interview with Oliver Zesiger, Sports Interactive’s head researcher for Football Manager’s Swiss Super League database. Here he gives the low-down on new BVB signing Manuel Akanji – on Patreon there’s much more where that came from!

Bundesliga MD18 – Aubameyang suspended, dominates nonetheless

Ballspielverein Borussia 09 Dortmund and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have had a good run; it looks very likely to come to a close after a weekend of ill temper. The striker was aggrieved over ill-chosen remarks from a prominent journalist, suspended by his club for ill discipline, and conspicuous in his absence after Dortmund could do no more than muster an ill-making 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg.

Matt and Abel dig in to all things Aubameyang on this pod this week, as well as run through the rest of the big storylines from MD18. Get it while it’s hot, and while you wait for the next edition of TF Fantasy, coming from James and Flo later this week. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD12 – Schalke pass up diminished Dortmund on their way to second place

The past two months have been a whirlwind of woe for BVB – a story we’ve all heard much about. It’s now fair to say they’ve been nearly as good for S04 as they were bad for Dortmund as the Royal Blues slide past the Schwarzgelben on the Bundesliga table.

Matt and Abel talk through the divergent fortunes of those two grand Fussball clubs, as well as explore the weirdness on show in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 4-2 win in Berlin. Bayern’s win over Augsburg (a game that’s the subject of Abel’s latest ‘Anatomy of a Goal’ on Patreon this week) gets a mention – in fact, they have at least a little to say about the whole match day. Huzzah!

World Cup 2018 Qualifiers – Bundesliga stars in action at the business end

Usually when they take away our Bundesliga for the week, we kick and scream – this week, it wasn’t so bad. International action served up plenty of drama as qualifying for World Cup 2018 came to a close. Matt and Abel talk over many of the best storylines, including Germany’s record-setting run to Russia, Turkey’s blackout at home to Iceland, and the exploits of a certain BVB wonder boy in Orlando.

The episode is rounded out with some Jupp-Heynckes-to-Bayern talk as well as discussion of a couple of topics put forward by our Patreon subscribers – how Bundesliga sides’ foreign tours are viewed back home, and who would join Bayern and Dortmund in a European Super League (should one ever get off the ground). Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Wolfsburg’s engine fails in Hamburg, Aubameyang takes the cannon on MD34

The Bundesliga crossed the finish line this past weekend with plenty of thrills. Dortmund’s top marksman helped them out-duel Hoffenheim  for third place; Cologne’s late kick earned them a Europa League group stage place at Hertha’s expense; HSV eventually found the legs to avoid finishing 16th and condemn the Wolves to a potentially tense Lower Saxony derby.

Matt Hermann and Abel Meszaros take most of this on board in virtual space; what they don’t discuss gets worked over by Matt, Terry Duffelen and Nik Wildhagen in a special live-in-Berlin segment. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.
