Talking Fussball Extra – Atletico beat Bayern, who’ll buy Hummels / 1.FC Nürnberg focus / MD32 Preview

FC Bayern München’s road toward the UEFA Champions League Final (we hope) has hit another speed bump away from home. Atletico Madrid took them down 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon and now there’s all to do in Munich next week. FC Bayern’s long-term types, meanwhile, have been busy turning the head of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels. He’s put in a formal transfer request with BVB to let them know he hopes to return to his boyhood club. Matt Hermann and Terry Duffelen join up to mull over both of those topics, as well as set up Match Day 32 in the Bundesliga.

In the middle, Matt is joined by Florian Zenger, 1.FC Nürnberg blogger extraordinaire at Clubfans United and Faszination Nordkurve. He brings us up to speed on what’s been going on at Der Club during its two-year hiatus form the top flight and how good its chances are of returning through the relegation playoff.

Talking Fussball – 2015/16 Matchday 17/Hinrunde Review

Talking Fussball – The Bundesliga Show returns for one final time in 2015 as James, Bent and Alex cast their analytical eyes over, not only Matchday 17, but the Hinrunde as a whole!

Can Pep Guardiola’s three-year stint be considered a success and what will Carlo Ancelotti bring to the table when he takes over in the summer? Who wants to and who can come in to rescue Hannover 96 from the relegation scrap? With no European or domestic cup action, where does Andre Schubert go from here with Borussia Mönchengladbach? Was Borussia Dortmund’s first half a season under Thomas Tuchel a success despite complacency costing them against 1. FC Köln and which German player is in biggest need of a good Rückrunde to make it into Jogi’s Euro 2016 squad?

All this and more on the latest episode of Talking Fussball!

DFB Pokal review + match day 17 preview

The Hinrunde in the Bundesliga is slowly coming to an end and soon there will be no Bundesliga football to keep us warm during the coldest time of the year. But, don’t worry – match day 17 is still to come!

In the first part of our show Matt Hermann and Nik Wildhagen mull over the results of the third round in the DFB Pokal.

Mid-show we are first joined by Archie Rhind-Tutt who in the spirit of Christmas has brought along a present. We were more than happy to accept his interview for the Set Pieces of Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujah which you’ll be able to listen to on this episode.

Nik has also spoken to Radio Free Weser host Patrick Davey about Werder’s crazy cup tie against Borussia Mönchengladbach and the club’s future prospects(Yes, Nik finally got his will and we are going big on the Werder love on this episode).

At the end of the show we take a closer look at the upcoming match day and we answer some of our listener questions!

Talking Fussball Extra – Champs Lg, Zorniger out at VfB, MD14 Preview

Much to discuss this week in TFE-land, where Matt Hermann welcomes Bundesliga TV commentator and columnist Kevin Hatchard back to the podcast. In the Champions League, Bayern bashed their way to another 4-0 home win, Wolfsburg inched closer to advancing, and Gladbach may yet have a say-so in when their European adventure concludes. Leverkusen…pretty much crapped the bed in Belarus.

Speaking of disappointment, Alexander Zorniger was meant to be the man to start a new era at VfB Stuttgart. But it turns out he only extended the chaos down Swabia way, flaming out after just 13 league games in charge. Und das ist gut so, writes Oliver Fritsch in Die Zeit Online. A pretty damning portrayal of German football’s misplaced trust in coaching whiz kids, and one we thought well worth a chat on the pod.

Finally there’s a whole Match Day 14 to discuss. Nordderby, Bayern-Hertha, Leverkusen-Schalke, and much much more. Listen up!

Should referees send Pep Guardiola to the stands when he strays too far from the code of conduct? For a fan’s view of the troubles at Borussia Dortmund, Sandra Goldschmidt joins Matt to talk about the atmosphere on the Südtribüne during BVB’s loss at home to Augsburg. In the last segment, we take a look ahead to match day 20, complete with another edition of our beloved Tippspiel.
