Talking Fussball’s 2018-19 Season Preview Spectacular!

The Bundesliga is just about to get rolling – Talking Fussball is here to pump up the tires and fill ‘er up with a full tank of premium ready for Match Day 1. This podcast is a doozy – it’ll get you more than 90 minutes down whatever road you find yourself on.

Matt and Abel are back, and they run through their views on all 18 Bundesliga sides, arranging them helpfully in levels of how serious a threat they are to Bayern Munich’s dominance. Without even meaning to, they also touch on the mess that the DFB team finds itself in a poor world cup and a high-profile resignation. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Talking Fussball – Germany NT World Cup preview

It’s World Cup time! It’s time to Talk Fussball! Germany are gearing up for their Group F opener on Sunday and Matt catches up with Kit Holden in Berlin to run the squad over with a fine-toothed comb.

The boys also devote quite a bit of time to exploring the “Erdogan affair”, the controversy that’s bogging down Mesut Özil and Ilkay Gündogan…and threatens to engulf the team’s entire campaign in Russia. It’s a real departure from the usual sports chat – we hope you enjoy it!

Bundesliga 2017-18 Season Review – Favre signs at BVB, Leipzig’s Rangnick considers hiring himself

Time to look back at the Bundesliga year that was in our 2017-18 Saisonrückblick! Matt and Abel fire up the pod machine to figure out who deserves to be young player of the year, minister of defense, most disappointing player, coach of the year and much more.

Before they dig in to the past, they bring you up to date on the big news of the week that was: Swiss artiste Lucien Favre’s return to the Federal League, Lukas Hradecky’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, and Lewis Holtby and HSV renewing their vows. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD34 – Hamburg have left the building, BVB hang on to UCL football by a thread after Hoffenheim loss

It looks like we might have made it – yes, it looks like we’ve made it to the end. For most of us here at Talking Fussball central that doesn’t mean much – we’ll be back soon enough with more content. For Hamburger Sportverein, it really is the end. The great clock-watch is over.

Matt’s away, so Abel is joined by Ronan Murphy of Goal.com for a throrough-going run through the last match day of the season, including a look at Dortmund, Hoffeheim and Leverkusen’s three-way tug-of-war over the Champions League, Stuttgart’s stonking of the champs in Munich, and much much more. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

TF Fantasy MD34 tips – Who to play on the final day

Just one last match day for the 2017-18 Bundesliga season, meaning whatever points you pick up this week will be the last you collect – time to make them count. By the same token, quite a few teams have European qualification or top flight survival on the line and will be giving every last drop of effort on Match Day 34.

JT and Flo fight back the wistful tears that start to well up around this time each year to give you all the best insight on who to put in (and who to leave out of) your line-up. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD33 – Schalke seal ‘Vice-Champions’ status, Relegation fight goes down to wire

Mainz did themselves a solid on Match Day 33, busting loose for a 2-1 win at the Westfalenstadion over BVB. That meant not only that the zero-fivers are safe but also that Schalke are guaranteed to finish above Dortmund for the first time in nine years.

Matt and Abel talk all that over, as well as the fates of the remaining relegation candidates (HSV, Wolfsburg, Freiburg) and the unholy muddle that is the European qualification situation. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD32 – Hoffenheim climb, Hamburg claw their way up in the final phase

It’s Julian Nagelsmann and the village club who look strongest as the 2017-18 Bundesliga season draws to a close – suddenly TSG are breathing down the necks of both Dortmund and Schalke. Meanwhile at the bottom, Cologne may have received their official top flight pink slip, but HSV are threatening to make another improbable escape.

Matt finds a comfortable park bench to discuss it all with Stephan Uersfeld of ESPN. Listen in as they figure out the next move for the wantaway Max Meyer, asess Bayern’s chances of getting past Real after a misadventure in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal, and listen to a snippet of Toto played by a passing boombox. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

TF Fantasy MD32 preview – Relegation race set for a climax, European hopefuls collide

Bundesliga MD31 – Sancho sizzles in BVB breakout, Bayern prepare for Real, Cologne bow out

Dortmund fans were given an increasingly rare treat on Match Day 31 – an attractively played comprehensive win over a top-level opponent. The emergence of Jadon Sancho as an impact player ahead of the new season adds a little extra spice.

Matt catches up with a well-pleased Abel to talk BVB as well as set the table for Bayern’s clash on Wednesday against the back-to-back European champs knowns as Real Madrid. Along the way they discuss Cologne’s departure from the Bundesliga stage, Julian Nagelsmann’s fit as a potential successor to Arsene Wenger, and a deep dive on Mitchell Weiser. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

P.s. We recorded this episode just prior to Cologne’s big announcement that Jonas Hector had re-signed with the club. We were as surprised and delighted by the news as you are.
