Talking Fussball – Hertha, Eintracht rise as it’s BVB’s turn to stumble

‘Full to bursting’ is how you could describe this one. MD12 left us wanting to dig in to 3rd- and 4th-placed Hertha BSC and Eintracht Frankfurt’s continued strong seasons, especially after the latter knocked off mighty BVB on the weekend. We also discuss the slumping Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach, hoping to diagnose what’s keeping them under the weather. (In Leverkusen’s most recent case – the hand of Javi/God…) We also get another instalment of TF Pet Team Search, as well as an update from the People’s Republic of St. Pauli with a Millernton Kompakt. If that didn’t sound like enough already, Nik Wildhagen gets out the passenger side door, rounds the car and gets into the driver’s seat. Matt Hermann does the vice-versa version. A zesty little twist! Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

P.s. The winners of the new Uli Hesse will shortly be drawn and will be announced on next week’s show!

Talking Fussball – ¡TITLE RACE ALERT! as the Hoff hold Bayern and the Bulls gore Mainz (MD10 review)

We encourage Bundesliga fans beleaguered by the “one-team-league” critique to wave the current table in the naysayers’ faces after match day 10. Bayern met their match when Hoffenheim visited the Allianz Arena, while raging RB Leipzig’s headlong charge to the top landed the latest matador (one dressed in a goof-ball karneval outfit) in the ICU. Matt Hermann corrals Nik Wildhagen into a conversation over what this all means: what teams have a chance to press Bayern all season, which teams are not quite there, which teams are as good as gone…and much much more. Producer Aidan is there to get it all down in crystal clear audio. Enjoy!

Talking Fussball – Taking stock in the englische Woche (MD3 and 4)

With the Bundesliga season 11.76% over, we at Talking Fussball thought it high time to take stock in what’s been going on. The teams have made it through the first two parts of their gruelling three-game English-style week and a few things are clear: Hamburg, Werder and Schalke stink at the moment, while Cologne, Frankfurt, and Hertha are flying high.

Nik Wildhagen talks through these truths with Kirsten Schlewitz of Unusual Efforts, and goes through the particulars of a few of the flood of games along the way too. He even gets in a few choice Morrissey-isms along the way, and if you don’t get a kick out of that maybe you just have bad taste in music.

It’s not strange – we just want to live our lives this way…

Talking Fussball Extra – Bayern bow out / MD33 Preview

After what happened last week at the Camp Nou, it didn’t come as a shock: FC Bayern München were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, winning in Munich 3-2 but losing 5-3 on aggregate. Matt Hermann, Archie Rhind-Tutt and Niklas Wildhagen discuss the Bavarians’ present disappointment and future challenges, the unusual goings on at Schalke 04, the striker transfer merry-go-round, as well as peek in on the battle for promotion in the 2. Bundesliga. The 33rd match day of the 1. Bundesliga gets the TFE treatment too, complete with another edition of our Tippspiel.

Talking Fussball Extra – DFB Pokal semifinals wrap / Bundesliga MD31 preview

Bayern’s treble dream is in tatters after BVB’s Jürgen Klopp finally won a showdown with Pep Guardiola in the German Cup semifinal. Dortmund will face Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal Finale in Berlin after the Wolves tore down Arminia Bielefeld’s Cinderella story in the other semi.

Talking Fussball Extra – The Bundesliga Show has a slightly different feel this week. James Thorogood and Bernie Reeves provide the analysis of UEFA Champions League Matchday 6, a matchday that secured Schalke’s place in the draw for the Round of 16.

James and Bernie cast their eyes over the performances of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke after their midweek matches, before turning their attention to Bundesliga matters. The pair take on the challenge of predicting for against Andreas, the latest member of Team Listener, who wants to beat Team Pod in the on going ‘pick the score’ battle.

Talking Fussball 2014/15 – TF on the road – Spain v Germany

This week, Talking Fussball Extra ventured to Zeitgeist in London to firstly watch Germany’s ever so slightly drab win over Spain before then previewing the upcoming round of fixtures in the Bundesliga – that being Matchday 12.

Of course, it was so much more than that with chat including Tim Wiese references, a spot of Bundesliga trivia and washing powder along with some Nordderby discussion as Hamburg prepare to take on Werder Bremen on Sunday.

So join host Archie Rhind-Tutt along with Matt Hermann, Jonathan Harding and Terry Duffelen for Talking Fussball Extra’s special night out.
