TF Fantasy MD26 preview – All hail fantasy king Flo, whose advice will take you to the top

It’s a banner week for TF Fantasy – our very own Flo Reinecke has taken over top spot on the global Official Fantasy Bundesliga charts…and boy does he let JT know about it!

James, somewhat further down the table and ever the good sport, takes pride in the accomplishment and sets up the table-topper for plenty of chances to find out where the bargains are on MD26. As a bonus bit of food for thought, 2. Bundesliga maven Jonny Walsh of the 2. Bundesliga Podcast stops by to give you a few names to think about for next season. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD25 – Bayern open 20-point gap at the top, Leipzig and BVB prep for Europa League test with stalemate

This past weekend was like a point of emphasis, driving home what we probably already knew: Bayern Munich are in a different class from the rest of the Bundesliga, and so are Hamburg and Cologne. (A lower one.)

Matt and Abel are back together this week, taking it all in: The future of Bayern Munich (and whether it might include Thomas Tuchel); whether Europe’s young guns will be enticed by Stöger-ball in Dortmund; just how cooked are HSV and 1.FC Köln’s geese; how high can Tayfun Korkut take VfB Stuttgart? (That last one is given musical life by the spectacular Adam Darowski – we cannot express the extent of our thanks.)

Enjoy the episode! Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD24 – Werder push HSV closer to edge, Schalke lay down marker at Leverkusen, Bayern and BVB held

If you like low-scoring knife-edge encounters (and let’s face it, who doesn’t), MD24 in the Bundesliga was your jam. The highest combined goal-scoring tally was three, and just one match had a margin of more than a single goal. Both big bad Bayern and second place Dortmund fell prey to the goal drought – settling for draws.

Abel(picking up a sick Matt’s slack) is in the driver’s seat and brings JT along for the ride on a pod that takes it all in: The sick man of the north (HSV), Stuttgart’s revival under Korkut (just four points from seventh…and Europe?), and the bandwagon at least one of them is keen to fire up: Nils Petersen für Deutschland! Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD22 – Bayern too good for this league, Korkut’s on fire

The 18-point-cushioned Rekordmeister were up against a very good Schalke side on MD22…and walked away winners, with relative ease. All week German football fans had debated how to make the league more competitive – Stefan Effenberg (of all people) chimed in with a provocative proposal which Matt and Abel discuss on the podcast.

Also under the microscope are Tayfun Korkut’s strong start at VfB Stuttgart, the recent travails of Borussia Mönchengladbach, and the persisting sense of meh among BVB fans – even in the face of Batshuayi’s bang-up start and the return of Saint Marco. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

TF Fantasy MD22 tips – Play Batshuayi, stick with Caiuby, kill Bailey

Wait, kill Bailey? Ok, don’t actually kill him – just consider dropping him from your team after hearing James and Flo’s game of ‘shag, marry, kill.’

The boys revisit their successes and mistakes from MD21, hand out a few tips for MD22, and chew the fat about the season ahead, including what might be in store for the Bundesliga’s European participants. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD20 – Stuttgart fire Wolf and hire Korkut, BVB look for new direction

Just a few months ago, Stuttgart were riding high. Their young squad had blasted through the 2. Bundesliga led by the budding  Sporting Director/Coach duo of Jan Schindelmeiser and Hannes Wolf and were looking secure in there assault on the top flight. Seven months later, the magic is over. They just hired Tayfun Korkut, for god’s sake.

Abel is at the wheel of the pod in Matt’s absence, pairing up with Flo, who shows he’s more than just a fantasy expert in a tour de force appearance that covers all the best topics from Matchday 20. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD19 – Bayern breakaway continues as rivals falter

It’s that time of year again. The one where Bundesliga watchers go into idle lamentation mode, worried about FC Bayern München running away with the league again.

Listen in as Matt sits down with Kit Holden in his Berlin study for a highbrow discussion of Bayern’s ultra-dominance, Dortmund’s search for a new point to their spear now that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks set to leave, and much much more. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

Bundesliga MD18 – Aubameyang suspended, dominates nonetheless

Ballspielverein Borussia 09 Dortmund and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have had a good run; it looks very likely to come to a close after a weekend of ill temper. The striker was aggrieved over ill-chosen remarks from a prominent journalist, suspended by his club for ill discipline, and conspicuous in his absence after Dortmund could do no more than muster an ill-making 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg.

Matt and Abel dig in to all things Aubameyang on this pod this week, as well as run through the rest of the big storylines from MD18. Get it while it’s hot, and while you wait for the next edition of TF Fantasy, coming from James and Flo later this week. Produced by Aidan Rantoul.

The Talking Fussball Winterpause Spectacular!

Just in time for that slow week between the two big holidays, Talking Fussball returns!

Matt and Abel convene to talk through the state of play at the Bundesliga’s winter break, including a full wrap of transfer talk, our Team of the Hinrunde, revisiting our predictions from the preseason and more. We’ll be away for the next couple weeks – for continued service through special episodes subscribe on Patreon.

MD13 – Schalke fightback stuns BVB in Revierderby for the ages, Foals deal Bayern first loss under Heynckes

It’s the Bundesliga’s big one. Dortmund v. Schalke, the Revierderby – a fixture meant to settle bragging rights in the Ruhr Valley and beyond. It always has plenty of fizz. On MD13, it was Diet Coke and Mentos.

Matt and Abel give the 4-4 thriller a thorough going over before moving on to Bayern’s surprising 2-1 loss in Mönchengladbach and the rest of the action from the weekend. Enjoy it!
