So ahead of the big game some folks like to Der Klassiker, Matt called up Uli Hesse, who you may know as the author of the essential book Tor! The Story of German Football or as a columnist at ESPNFC. In addition to being a pretty much delightful guy, Uli has an interesting relationship to this fixture. He’s a Dortmund native (and BVB fan) who has recently written a new book on the other team called Bayern: Creating a Global Superclub. Here’s a little taste of the full interview to come in the next episode of Talking Fussball…as well as fair warning that we’ll be giving away no fewer than SIX copies of the book in a contest we’ll announce next week. Don’t miss out!

The Bundesliga snatched defeat from the jaws of victory this week in the UEFA Champions League, with three out of four sides taking 1-0 leads on their big-name opposition before capitulating late to lose 2-1. (The exception was Bayern, but isn’t that always the way in the Bundesliga?)
At any rate, Matt Hermann and Nik Wildhagen fought like mad to keep that drop-off in quality from happening late in the pod, knowing they had an ace up their sleeve: the pod ends with our first submission in the #TFEBundesligaAnthem appeal! It’s written by Tony Williams, submitted by his dad David, and called “Ode to Fabi J: Goals for Foals.” I think you’ll agree it’s a pretty sick slow burner. Keep ’em coming!
Join Matt Hermann and Terry Duffelen as they break down the latest news, including the comings and goings at Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig.
They also look ahead to the resumption of the Bundesliga this Easter weekend, including the match formerly known as der Klassiker..
