DFB Pokal review + match day 17 preview

The Hinrunde in the Bundesliga is slowly coming to an end and soon there will be no Bundesliga football to keep us warm during the coldest time of the year. But, don’t worry – match day 17 is still to come!

In the first part of our show Matt Hermann and Nik Wildhagen mull over the results of the third round in the DFB Pokal.

Mid-show we are first joined by Archie Rhind-Tutt who in the spirit of Christmas has brought along a present. We were more than happy to accept his interview for the Set Pieces of Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujah which you’ll be able to listen to on this episode.

Nik has also spoken to Radio Free Weser host Patrick Davey about Werder’s crazy cup tie against Borussia Mönchengladbach and the club’s future prospects(Yes, Nik finally got his will and we are going big on the Werder love on this episode).

At the end of the show we take a closer look at the upcoming match day and we answer some of our listener questions!

Bayern’s treble dream is in tatters after BVB’s Jürgen Klopp finally won a showdown with Pep Guardiola in the German Cup semifinal. Dortmund will face Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal Finale in Berlin after the Wolves tore down Arminia Bielefeld’s Cinderella story in the other semi.

Talking Fussball Extra – Wednesday Madness and Match Day 29 Preview

Wednesday saw Bayern München lose the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals against Porto after three massive blunders by the Bavarians defence. Back in Germany HSV made headlines for appointing their fourth coach of the season and BVB coach Jürgen Klopp announced that he’d leave Dortmund at the end of the season.

Archie Rhind-Tutt and Nik Wildhagen take a closer look at all the story lines emerging on that crucial day for German football. The two of them talk about Jürgen Klopp’s legacy at Dortmund and HSV chances of avoiding the drop, before they dive into the mess Bayern got themselves into in the Champions League.
